The Department of Geography organized an educational visit to the Indian Meteorological Department, (Mausam Bhawan) Sanganer, Jaipur on 14th August 2014. 32 Students from graduation (B.A/B.Sc- Semester III and Semester V) took active participation in the visit. The visit included field survey to the observatory where the students got acquainted with the use and working of meteorological instruments like max-min thermometer, wet-dry bulb thermometer, rain gauge, automatic weather station, automatic rain gauge, wind vane, anemometer, air balloon, thedolite etc. and collection and tabulation of weather data. The students also got familiar with working of radar and its use in transmission and reception of information about the clouds and collection and analysis of that information.
An interactive session was also held with Dr. B.N Bishnoi, scientist and director of Jaipur Met office, where the students asked questions related to monsoon and other climatic phenomenon.
It was a very knowledgeable experience for the students which gave them understanding about the weather elements in particular and geography in general.
