Remote Sensing and GIS

Programme Learning Outcomes for Certificate Course

  1. The students will sensitize students in the vibrant field of Remote Sensing and the amalgamation of Geography with this field.
  2. The students will have a functional understanding of basic remote sensing concepts and applications and understanding of the various platforms.
  3. Describe the process of data acquisition of satellite images and their characteristics and explain the concepts and fundamentals of GIS.
  4. The students will be able to analyze and interpret Aerial Photo interpretation  and basics of GPS, Remote sensing and GIS integration and enhance their skills and knowledge.



Programme Learning Outcomes for Diploma 

  1. The students will be able to familiarize themselves with the basic principles of remote sensing and Photogrammetry and their technical aspects in a simple manner which will enable them to explore mapped data
  2. They would learn about the basic principles of GIS along with an introduction to GPS and thus relate GIS with various technologies
  3. The will be able to analyze spatial data, interpret Aerial Photographs and satellite imagery using various GIS analysis tools
  4. They will develop and manage geodatabases with the help of hardware and softwares available.
  5. They will create maps, images, etc. to communicate spatial data in a meaningful way to others and can venture in further research and make a successful career.



Programme Learning Outcomes for Advance Diploma

  1. With the knowledge of the advanced principles of Remote Sensing the students will be able to understand the concept of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing better.
  2. The will understand the process of data acquisition of satellite images and their characteristics and can even compute an image visually and digitally with digital image processing techniques.
  3. The students will learn how to arrange and analyze the data received from GIS and GPS.
  4. They will learn the comprehensive applications of interpretation of various data systems and Aerial as well as Satellite Imagery with the help of hardware and software available.
  5. They will be able to learn about the advanced concepts and fundamentals of GIS and the latest revolution in this field.
  6. They will be able to compute knowledge of remote sensing, GIS and GPS in various fields of geography, geology, town planning, meteorology, etc and can further develop  applications in a more collaborative form which will enable to have a career in this field.
