VILLAGE SURVREY, THANAGAZI ALWAR
The Department of geography has conducted a socio economic survey and village survey on 12th Jan 2013, at Narhet village, Thanagazi Alwar. The main objective of the village survey was to give students a practical knowledge of surveying and data collection. The village was a good example of impact of modernization with advancement in their socio cultural values. It is developed by Jaipur Rugs Industrial unit. Jaipur Rugs has installed looms to weave carpets and provide employment to the villagers, this has increased their socio economic conditions, the village which was earlier classified under BPL is now a developed village with proper infrastructure facilities like electricity, water, educational institutions, etc.As a small geographical unit all the attributes of physical environment that is hills, open fields, irrigation by well and tube well, farm lands, rivers, demographic structure was found in the area studied. Students get acquainted with the knowledge of these features by physically examine them. 26 students of Graduation course (B.A. and BSc. Geography) participated in the survey.
Students ask questions regarding village life and Government facilities available in that village. Primary data was collected by the students with the help of a questionnaire and direct interview of villagers. Students participated very enthusiastically as this was a new experience for them. They find a good example of blending of modernization and rural life.
