Objective: 

To learn the application aspect interpretation of Aerial photo and of Satellite Images with the help or hardware in software available.

The analysis and interpretation of Aerial Photo and Learning the techniques by using following items, hardware and software: 

  • Aerial Photographs
  • Stereoscope
  • Tracing table
  • Computers
  • RS or GIS Software
  • GPS

Exercises

Aerial photo interpretation

  • Exercise on the determination of height of plan, parallax, Determination of height of objects from single photographs and stereopairs;
  • Preparation of thematic maps on lithology and structure, Geomorphology, Land use/ Land cover, Forest types, soil and soil erosion, Hydrogeomorphic mapping.

Interpretation of Satellite Images

  • Digital Image Processing (DIP): Image enhancements; Georeferencing; Mosaic preparation.
  • Preparation of keys from satellite images; Preparation of thematic maps on
    • Lithology and structure
    • geomorphology,
    • land use/land cover,
    • soils and soil erosion,
    • forest types,
    • hydro-geomorphologic mapping and
    • ground water potential zones.

Option 1: Environment Studies:                                                                                                                  Basics of environment, ecological aspects of environment, impact of man on biosphere, atmospheric pollution, industrial waste, solid waste management, water quality management, pollution monitoring equipment, visual and digital analysis of remotely sensed data, detection of spectral properties of air, land and water pollution.

Option 2: Forestry :

Biotic and A biotic components, forest ecosystem, forest types of India. Conservation of forest ecosystem, forest surveying, forest planning, forest soils. Urban forestry. Role of Remote sensing in forest monitoring and mapping.

Option 3: Agriculture :

Ecology, ecosystem. Physical and social environment as factors of crop distribution and production. Climate elements as factors of crop growth, impact of changing environment on crop pattern .Role of Remote sensing in crop production forecasting and monitoring .Disease monitoring, floods, water logging mapping and monitoring.
